2/7/2016 PREPPING FOR SUPERBOWLDon't forget to get your pup lots of exercise today if you are hosting a 🏈 #SuperBowl party. Tucking your pup away in a crate or bedroom will not only help him/her relax during the festivities, but will also keep those special game day snacks safe!!
1/30/2016 raised on reading rainbowCheck out how audiobooks are helping shelter dogs. One of my favorite bonding activities with pups, especially during a snowstorm, is reading out loud. I always found that something about the cadence of our voices is soothing, and as I have been known to say: a mind is a terrier thing to waste!! 😜🎓📚

1/1/2016 SOCIALIZATION FOR LIFEFor anyone who welcomed a furry companion into their home this holiday season, whether a puppy or more seasoned dog, this is worth a read. When working on independence training, it's helpful to use a confinement area, baby gate or crate, so that you can create a physical barrier to leverage other than your apartment door.
12/15/2015 deconstruction siteIf your pup sometimes pairs all commands at the prospect of a treat, deconstruct your pup's commands, offering him or her a reward only for doing a single command at a time - the one you asked for!
11/11/2015 SEEING IS BEINGIf you want your puppy to be calm outside on-leash, try to BE the energy you want to SEE. If your pup is stressed or reactive, be the energetic rock to bring stability and harmony back to the situation.
10/7/2015 WASHABLE WEE WEE PADSI learned a lot from Miss Charlotte today. Miss Charlotte is not only cute, but is conscientious as well! She chooses for many reasons to use washable wee wee pads. Mother Earth and all her creatures big and small thank her!! 👏💙💚🌎🍃🌻🐠🐛🐝🌍💙💚
10/4/2015 CELEBRATING SAINT FRANCISWhat better day than St Francis Day to learn that my experiences were published in a wonderful book by the award-winning author and respected spiritual teacher Susan Shumsky. Here's an excerpt of my story, and how I honor our bond with animals every day in my dog training practice:
"St. Francis always spoke to me. Mainly because he spoke to animals—something I had always wished I could do. I spent my childhood studying any living creature that crossed my path. During holidays in the fields of my family's house in the mountains, many afternoons, I communed with caterpillars, beetles, butterflies, baby chickens, frogs, horses, and when lucky, the occasional dog. All so I could intently watch and possibly even share a thought or two with one of the amazing little souls I so revered, and intuitively knew had a message for my kind and me. Regardless of these childhood experiences and desires, it was with some trepidation and skepticism that I signed up for an animal communication course in the Summer of 2014, at age 33. As a child, I had been intuitive and somewhat of an empath, but a few eerie encounters caused me to block those gifts through my teen years and twenties. The course was both a homecoming and an awakening to what happens after years of blocking my third eye. What once had felt very natural, then eluded me. My intuitiveness and empathic sensibilities were rusty. What I thought would be a simple tuning into a pre-programmed radio station proved to be the most worthwhile journey back to that little girl, who, through the oneness of all and paradox of time, was still in that field, with those same animals, holding that same desire for a heart-centered connection."
