12/12/2014 UPCYCLINGCome Chanukah or Christmas morning, boxes make for wonderful toys for pups. Fill them with empty water bottles and dispersed toys and treats, and watch your furry friend play for hours! Just be mindful of keeping ribbons and tape away from your pup, as they can be hazardous if swallowed.
If you are invited to stay with friends or family and your puppy is still being potty-trained, consider bringing along a small tarp and placing it under your dog's pen. This way your puppy has a safe place to play and your host's carpets are protected.
12/1/2014 you shop. amazon gives. As you shop for Cyber Monday deals, consider sites and businesses that donate to organizations benefitting our furry friends. If you are an Amazon Primer, you can sign up for a percentage of every online purchase year round to go to a charity of your choice. I've chosen The Big Hearts Fund in honor of my furry friend Duncan. All you have to do is type in the URLsmile.amazon.com, and shop away!
10/22/2014 BOBBING FOR TREATSWhen you purchase a toy for your dog online, the fun doesn't have to end there! Save the box and fill it up with cardboard rings from cut up paper towel rolls (empty plastic water bottles work too, sans caps). Sprinkle some treats in the box, and voila! Your pup will enjoy this modified bobbing for apples game, and you just reused, reduced and recycled.
7/16/2014 COOL AS A CUCUMBERDipping a bandana in cool water (not ice cold) and putting it around your pup's neck is a great way to help him/her beat the heat!
4/5/2013 new use for a water bottleIf you are looking for a FUN, CHEAP TOY for your dog this weekend, try putting a plastic water bottle in an old knee-high sock and knotting the top of it. If your dog is a heavy chewer, skip the plastic bottle (for safety), and put in some tennis balls instead! Hours of fun on a budget...
